The purpose of Homework

Homework is another way to reinforce what your child has learned in class.
If your child is struggling with the homework, it's an indicator that they need you to review the concept.  Try using the Pearson website.
I sent your child's username and password last week.
If you need any assistance, please let me know and we can meet to learn how to utilize the website.

Safe Pick Ups and Homework

For your child's safety!!
At the end of the day, please wait until we are lined up at the safe place before your child can be dismissed.
Homework
Math and Language Arts Worksheets

If your child does not have a worksheet, please look at the Homework Calendar for the alternate assignment.  It requires them to write something in their homework notebook in place of the worksheet.

Homework

Everyone is adjusting to the homework schedule.  Thank you for your patience.  Rainbow words are when you write each letter of the word in a different color.
  • Please remember to clean out the Homework folders daily.
  • Leave only homework that needs to be checked and important papers that need to be signed.
  • Also, please have your child place the papers in the page of the notebook they completed.  (This makes the homework checking process go faster.)

We will get this down, I promise!  Have a great week!

Welcome Back!!

It's been a busy week and we've only been in school for 2 days.
There have been several important papers sent home that should be completed and signed by the parents:
  • Information sheet
  • green emergency card
  • class
    dojo sign in
  • lunch form (not all students some were returned
    from last year)

There will be many more papers throughout September.  I will keep you up to date through your homework calendars.

I look forward to meeting all of you on Tuesday 9/10/13 at 6:30p.m. for Back to School.  This is the perfect opportunity for us to get to know eachother in our endeavor to working together as a team to help your child in their education.

Happy Birthday to all the Summer Babies!!

Picture
Summer is a great time for a birthday.  It's just a little harder because a lot of people that you'd like to celebrate with may not be around to celebrate with you.  Get creative and make your birthday a birth week or even a birth month.  This way you can celebrate with everyone.

Creating a Family Tree is Family Fun!

PictureFamily Photos
Getting Started

Have your parent or guardian help.
Get a paper.
Write your name on the bottom.
Write any siblings names next to yours.
Draw a line to the line above you.
Write your parents names on this line and connect them to your line.

You can make this as easy or involved as you'd like.  You can add pictures, birthdays, stories, etc.  You can also add grandparents above your parents, great grandparents above that.  If you use a big paper you can add your aunts, uncles (next to the related parent), and cousins (underneath their parents).  Have fun!!

Want to create a robot?  Fly remote contolled airplanes? Create a model train track? Learn how to care for horses, sheep, cow, alpaca, etc.?

4H clubs are designed to help children to learn about many different interests that could become too costly for one person to pursue. Read more here: http://www.4-h.org/about/youth-development-organization/

Make sure you check out one of the various county 4H fairs in New Jersey.  Throughout July and August, there are 4H fairs just about every weekend.  Check out the link below to find one near you!
